D/AI Destinations is an all-in-one destination marketing & management platform. It is a tool designed to help tourist destinations grow sustainably through the integrated and intelligent use of numerous data sources.

As a data provider of alternative data, The Data Appeal Company uses its proprietary techniques to collect the digital traces of POIs, i.e. points of interest in an area, through the analysis of dozens of portals, websites, OTAs, social media, from the best known to the most specialised by industry.

The recovery methodology envisages a reconnaissance and unambiguous reconciliation process through an algorithm that maximises the probability that the channels explored are related to the same POI. After a complex data quality process, for each POI detected, its characteristics are analysed - such as location, typology, and services - and of the visitors - such as origin, language, and type of trip.

The contents of the digital human experience (reviews, judgments, comments, scores, etc.) are semantically read and analysed through proprietary artificial intelligence mechanisms in natural language, in its original form, identifying its logic and emotional tone.

The main result is the sentiment, i.e. a synthetic index that expresses the degree of satisfaction based on 100, i.e. the share of favourable judgments within the set of all the contents analysed.

The main topics, connected subjects (aspects), and reviews (opinions) are added to this polarity score for each content. Numerous other techniques have been developed over the years, including the rates checker for hospitality, with the collection of daily rates (monitored several times a day) published on OTAs.

Thanks to sophisticated dedicated Business Intelligence tools and Data Visualisation techniques, the data is offered interactively through a dashboard such as D / AI Destinations so that every type of user can read all the necessary information autonomously.

A territorial analysis tool that collects and analyses qualitative and quantitative data in real time within the monitored destination. It is a product that provides real-time data, indicators, and operational tools for anyone working with administrative territories or tourist destinations.

The platform detects and monitors POIs (Points of Interest) belonging to various sectors, collecting and analysing all online content related to activities within the territory, such as hotels, restaurants, museums, transportation, etc. Online content refers to any information related to a POI published on the web, such as reviews, social media posts, and prices on OTAs for POIs belonging to the accommodation sector.

For each content, D /AI Destinations detects two aspects:

  • Quantitative aspect: volume of analysed content, for example, number of reviews detected in a certain period.
  • Qualitative aspect: quality of feedback expressed by the content, for example, positive or negative reviews.

D / AI Destinations allows creating value for all actors in the territory to monitor all market dynamics, have more strategic valuable information for marketing and communication, and structure an attractive offer for the target markets.

Can I add users with access to the dashboard?

Our destination analytics platform allows you to add new users to your dashboard anytime. We know the importance of a collaborative and informed work team and are here to facilitate this experience.

To add new users to your dashboard, we recommend that you contact our reliable customer service. You can do this by sending an email to support@datappeal.io. Our support team will be happy to assist you in adding users, answering your questions and providing the necessary assistance to ensure that your team can easily access the dashboard and make the most of all the features offered by our platform.

Plus, once new users have been added to your dashboard, you'll have complete control over each user's permissions and access levels. You will be able to define who can view specific data, change settings and collaborate effectively in achieving common goals.

Why don't I have access to some dashboard sections?

Our main goal is to offer each user a product tailored to their needs. To this end, all our products are structured modularly, allowing the activation or deactivation of the different modules according to the diverse needs. Access to certain sections could also be linked to commercial agreements during license activation. If you wish to activate new sections, please contact your sales representative. How often is the data updated?

Our primary commitment is to guarantee our users updated and timely data. To achieve this, we are constantly improving the technical timescales necessary for a reliable update of the information provided. Typically, the data is updated weekly, but due to the ever-changing nature of the information, it may continue to be updated for approximately three weeks. Data older than three weeks can be considered consolidated.

Our team is committed to maintaining data freshness to enable users to make informed decisions. However, we consider the complexity of collecting, processing and verifying data from numerous sources. This process takes time to ensure the accuracy and quality of the information provided.

We recognise the importance of providing up-to-date data in the tourism destination industry, as conditions and trends can change rapidly. Therefore, we strive to minimise the time between data collection and its availability on the platform.

How do you collect data?

The data in the dashboards comes from direct data collection from online public sources, commercial deals with other companies, and open-source data. The data collected online is recovered through a process known as ethical scraping, which is an automatic data collection practice from web pages conducted in compliance with the laws and contractual agreements. It obtains public information for legitimate purposes, such as academic research or market analysis. Data is extracted without causing harm or violating user privacy.

How many sources do you collect data from?

We are proud to collect data from a large and diverse pool of over 130 trusted sources. Our destination analytics platform leverages a vast ecosystem of information from both primary and third-party sources. This approach lets us obtain a complete and accurate view of the destinations, providing users with a detailed and up-to-date overview.

Our data sources include official tourism organisations, government bodies, research companies, booking platforms, geodata providers, travel agencies and many more. Each head is carefully evaluated to ensure the reliability and quality of the information we provide to our users.

The diversity of sources allows us to obtain data on various topics, such as tourist attractions, cultural events, weather conditions, transport, accommodation facilities and much more. What is the available historical data?

We have a rich repository of up-to-date and highly reliable historical data covering all points of interest (POIs) and land destinations we have mapped since January 2019. This means you can access detailed and accurate information on various tourist destinations over time. Thanks to this vast collection of historical data, we can give you in-depth insight into the evolution of travel trends, the popularity of places and many other relevant aspects to your analysis. Whether you're interested in exploring seasonal fluctuations in tourism, analysing visitor preferences over the years, or evaluating the impact of specific events on destinations, our historical data will provide you with an informative and comprehensive perspective to make data-driven strategic decisions concrete.

Can I download the available data?

Absolutely! We recognise the importance of accessing data for in-depth analysis and research work. With D/AI Destinations, you can download available data in different formats to suit your needs.

Most graphics can be downloaded as JPG and PNG images for easy use and sharing. Suppose you prefer to work with numerical data directly. In that case, we also offer the option of downloading files in CSV format, allowing you to manipulate and analyse the data in more detail.

Also, if you want to create a comprehensive analysis document or professional presentation, we recommend using the Reports feature on the platform. Reports allow you to structure and present data clearly and persuasively, offering an ideal option for sharing your findings and insights with your colleagues, partners and internal and external stakeholders.

How are indexes created, and why is a scale from 0 to 100?

Thanks to the sophisticated data analysis algorithms that we have developed, we can create indices that represent the situation of a tourist destination. These indices are based on data collected from various sources, such as user reviews, demographic data, information on available services and many other relevant factors.

A scale from 0 to 100 has been chosen to assess the destination more understandably. This scale allows us to provide a clear and immediate picture of the situation so that users can easily interpret the results. A score of 0 indicates a very bad or unattractive situation for tourists, while a score of 100 represents an outstanding and highly recommended destination.

Using a standardised scale also allows us to compare different destinations with each other objectively. By reaching two goals with scores of 75 and 60, you can determine that the first destination is generally considered better than the second. Furthermore, this scale allows us to monitor progress or decline over time, clearly indicating trends and changes in the tourism sector.

Ultimately, the indices are created using our advanced data analysis algorithms, which evaluate a wide range of destination information. The scale from 0 to 100 has been adopted to simplify the evaluation and comparison of destinations, allowing users to obtain clear and meaningful information on the tourist destinations analysed.
